Remedial Classes

Students of all schools are supported linguistically and in their school subjects with a special focus on German, English and Mathematics. The support takes place in small groups (with up to 6 pupils) for 2 to 4 hours a week at the pupils’ school. Language teaching goes hand in hand with specialised subject vocabularies, but the support is not directly linked to lessons (i.e. there is no specific homework support). The City of Ludwigsburg and Ludwigsburg County provide the funds to pay the support teachers. The students undertake to carry out the remedial teaching for one school year (also during the lecture-free period, but not during the school holidays).

The City of Ludwigsburg and Ludwigsburg County arrange the cooperation with the schools and provide the logistics. The LUE takes over the training and further education of the trainee teachers, while the schools provide the premises and ensure a cooperative collaboration between teachers and support teachers.

The trainee teachers gain practical school experience, expand their competences, e.g. in dealing with young people with language support needs, and at the same time receive additional earnings. Students must attend an accompanying seminar in the winter semester. Under certain conditions, remedial teaching can be credited as a “Block Internship” or as a “Professionalisation Internship”; for this, registration with the Office of School Experience is required in advance.
