Senate

The Senate has members from all sections of the university. It decides on all matters of research, teaching and study programmes as well as further education which are of fundamental importance. Among other things, the Senate is responsible for the appointment of full-time members of the Rectorate in a joint search committee with the University Council and for the approval of structural and development plans as well as the adoption of the University Regulations. Furthermore, the Senate is responsible for the establishment, modification and closing of study programmes, university institutions and facilities, subject groups as well as joint institutions and committees, and for determining admission numbers. Its composition and exact responsibilities are regulated by the State Higher Education Act (§ 19 – “The Senate”).
