The Institute of Economics Education (iföb.de) is a scientific competence centre that focuses on economics, economics education, pedagogical professionalisation and further education. The institute is dedicated to strengthening economics education as a whole and promoting young academics.
We put a strong emphasis on research and the development of young researchers. Our team conducts research projects in all areas of economics education, working closely with national and international partners. We are passionate about contributing to the development of economics education and promoting economic thinking.
We particularly focus on experimental research designs and research into the development of subject teaching. Our research areas include
- decision-making, behavioural economics education, consumer education, and financial literacy
- entrepreneurship education, business education, and vocational orientation
- economic literacy, economic policy education, economic thinking and sustainability
- pedagogical professionalisation, action-oriented methods, leadership, and classroom management.

Study programme and teaching: We offer a scientifically sound, competence-oriented and practice-oriented study programme in economics for prospective teachers . We place particular emphasis on good relationships with our students. The core topics of economics teaching are consistently linked to the results of empirical teaching and learning research as well as to school practice itself. In cooperation with the Professional School of Education (PSE) Stuttgart-Ludwigsburg, we train teachers for all school levels and school types.
