The aim of the Institute is to teach important basics for decision-making processes. The full-time master's programme "Cultural Studies and Cultural Management" is aimed at students who have successfully completed a degree in economics, law or administration, the arts, cultural or media studies. They wish to prepare themselves via a master's programme for a management position in a cultural institution or for professional self-employment in the creative industries, for example as start-up entrepreneurs. Usually, participants graduate after two years with a Master of Arts (M.A.).
Our part-time programme is primarily aimed at people working in the cultural sector on a full-time, part-time or voluntary basis. It is structured as a modular system in which seminars can be selected according to individual needs. The content is focused on various topics of cultural management and the transfer between theory and practice. The programme can be completed with a university certificate and ECTS credits.
The doctoral option is offered to graduates of the master's programme in cultural management – as well as being available to other interested parties under certain conditions.
Research and Consultancy: the Institute for Cultural Management is particularly active in research related to the professional field. In their research, publications and reports the professors and colleagues at the Institute work on finding solutions to practical cultural and methodological problems. The areas of cultural studies, cultural tourism marketing, cultural business management and development as well as human resource management are focal points in its research with which the Institute distinguishes itself.
