The Institute of French at Ludwigsburg University of Education encourages synergy between research and teaching. Small study groups result in a personal learning environment as staff respond to individual learning prerequisites in their teaching. Classes are generally conducted in French to take into account the specific role of professional language competencies in developing a foreign language teacher's professional knowledge and skills.
Our broad expertise reflects the range of contributions that French culture has made, as well as the major role France continues to play in Europe and the wider world.
At Ludwigsburg, you can choose to study French as part of a joint honours degree (BA/M.Ed.) with another subject, in preparation for teaching at the primary or secondary levels.
Current staff specialisations include task-based language learning, drama-based approaches, teaching French to young learners, the recent history of language learning and teaching, children's literature, literary and cultural studies, modern French society and politics, as well as French linguistics.
